Airport service continues to save lives

Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) has presented Cairns Airport with an award of excellence for its key role in helping to save lives and prevent drownings through surf safety education and awareness.

Thanks to vital support from the Airport, the past summer has once again seen surf lifesavers stationed at the arrivals hall to greet passengers upon touch down and present them with multilingual information about how to protect themselves while swimming at the beach.

Lifesavers have educated more than 151,500 people since its inception, with the program set to return once again in time for the peak Easter holiday period.
