Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) hosted a successful weekend of racing at the National Pool Rescue Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.
Following a weekend of a record number of over 185 contested events and several new Australian and World records, Currumbin Beach Vikings Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) was the overall club winner with Terrigal SLSC in second and Maroochydore SLSC in third.
The event welcomed over four hundred competitors from 11 years of age to Masters, as well as the official Australian Life Saving Team in their final preparation before heading to the Lifesaving World Championships in France in September.
Championship Referee, Don Van Keimpema and his dedicated officials were extremely pleased to have the cooperation of the clubs in attendance. “The officials have done a great job, supplying personnel and working closely with SLSA staff to ensure a great event for all,” said Mr. Van Keimpema.
