After two days of tough competition, Gold Coast’s North Burleigh has taken out this year’s Queensland IRB Championships at Mermaid Beach.
Point Lookout finished in second place, with Kawana Waters in third. Kurrawa and Broadbeach rounded out the top five.
In the handicapped point score, it was Broadbeach who took the top honours with Point Lookout, Kurrawa and Dicky Beach all tied for second place.
The high-octane event saw more than 270 surf lifesavers from across the state battle it out across two days of tough competition for surf rescue supremacy and one of the prestigious state titles up for grabs.
A precursor to the Australian Championships, the Queensland IRB Surf Rescue Championships serve to enhance lifesaving skills through competition, with all events across the weekend simulating ‘real life’ patrol and rescue situations.
