The iconic ‘swim between the flags’ message will be given a high-octane boost this weekend, when Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) teams up with Preston Hire Racing at the 2017 Vodafone Gold Coast 600.
The weekend’s action will see the Preston Hire Racing car feature special surf safety messaging in a bid to save lives and encourage safe swimming this summer.
SLSQ chief operating officer George Hill ESM thanked Preston Hire Racing for its vital support, saying it was a great opportunity to communicate the message far and wide.
“We’re always looking for ways to save lives through education and spreading the surf safety message, and this is a wonderful opportunity to do exactly that,” he said.
“Our vision is to achieve ‘zero preventable deaths in Queensland public waters’ and that’s supported by thousands of volunteer members across the state who give up their own time each year to watch over and protect beachgoers.
“It’s wonderful for a team like Preston Hire Racing to not only share that passion and vision, but also actively help us educate beachgoers and, ultimately, help save lives on Queensland beaches.
“I’d like to thank Preston Hire Racing for their vital support, and wish them all the best this weekend,” he said.
